| About Us |
| I have been involved in dogs all my life, growing up with a variety of different breeds. As a child, my parents raised Siberian Huskies, mainly for sled racing and obedience. I owned a Border Collie as a child, among other breeds. So although fairly new to aussies, I have always had dogs. In 1984, I purchased my first actual show potential Golden Retriever, Sunny. Diagnosed as borderline dysplastic at age 2, we competed in obedience and basic field events in both US and Canada. Sunny attained an AM-CAN CD with multi class placements and wins in both countries. She also had her AM-CAN Working Certificate titles in US & Canada, along with 2 Junior Hunter legs. Due to health issues she was retired from active competition just three weeks before I lost her to cancer. My second golden was also diagnosed with hip dysplasia, was spayed and placed in a wonderful pet home. I then went to Thornfield Kennels, owned by Kathy Heisler. From her, I acquired Flair and latter on, Sparkle, who became my foundation. Sparkle was the best thing that ever happened to me and I am Forever grateful to Kathy for entrusting me with her. She never put a foot down wrong, and she loved being in the ring, finishing with 4 majors in 3 weekends. Whenever she went in the ring, she showed her heart out, with me, or her handlers. In very limited specialing here in the US she was BOS at the Ft Detroit Specialty and had multi-BOB/BOS wins all owner handled. In Canada, she had multi group wins and placements handled by myself or Judy Taylor. I lost both Flair and Sparkle within 4 mos of each other in 2002. Flair was 15 1/2 and had a stroke, Sparkle passed 4 mos later from Cancer at age 10 /12. I married my husband Tom in 2004. He grew up farming with his family here in Michigan. He had several mixed breed dogs as a child, acquiring a yellow lab (Jagersbo background) as a teenager. Limey (also affectionately known as Bean) shared his life with Tom for 15 years. In 2006, we decided we had been dog-less long enough. Since we couldn't agree on either a golden or a lab, we decided upon an aussie, and the search began. After contacting several breeders, unsuccessfully looking for a blue merle puppy, we got Lacey (a black-tri) from Sue Mayborne at Shoreland Kennels, followed a year later by Sparkle (a blue merle), and Hula (a blue merle) who came to us from Alyssa Janiszak (Valor Kennels). In 2008 we branched off and got 2 Border Collies - a male as a birthday present for my niece, Chelsea, which I co-own with her and a beautiful sable merle female that I co-own with Sue Mayborne. We also added a third Border Collie, Oreo, from Majestic Kennels. |
